Our eight days of walking where Jesus walked andstudying the places where He performed His great ministry has created a closeness in myown individual heart to the Lord Jesus Christ that I have never known before. Thefullness of the Spirit of God in my life and ministry has given me a new determination todo more in '74 than ever before for His glory. To let the Lord be Lord in my life and beLord in and through my ministry is a goal of mine for the '70's.Our plane arrived in Tel Aviv a few days before Christmas. My wife Joyce, ourdaughters Rhonda and Mitzi, and Rhonda's fiance Chuck Kelly from Beaumont, Texasalong with Rex Humbard and his group of over 260 people arrived to tour the Land ofthe Bible. Tel Aviv, under military guard, was our welcome. From there over to Nazareth,the place where the childhood and young life of Jesus was lived. Then over night atTiberias, where my family and I looked out the window to the Sea of Galilee. The nextday we went by boat on this same sea to the actual spot where Jesus stilled the storm ofthe disciples who knew He was on board but waited until times were so troubled thatthey had to call upon the Lord.On this boat on the Sea of Galilee, I rededicated my life anew to the Lord that Hewould be the peace in my heart to still any storm that might come upon my life orministry in the year 1974. I felt a peace that I have never felt before when I committedall unto Jesus as not only Saviour but Lord of my life. Then on to Capernaum whereJesus did most of His miraculous work and spent much of His time. There at the sight ofthe old synagogue I stood with my Bible in my hand and preached to my family. Mythoughts went back to the time that Jesus stood in the same synagogue and preached thesame Gospel that I was preaching to my family. The next day at the Church of theBeatitudes, I had the opportunity to read from the book of Matthew the Sermon on theMount and read the Beatitudes out loud to the crowd that was with us and to close in aprayer of dedication.In this report to you I am not trying to give a travel log. I am just trying to share withyou some of the heart felt experiences that I enjoyed on these days in the Land of theBible.The Sermon on the Mount, the area where this took place, has meant so much to mein the past but now it becomes a living reality because of being on the Mount where thesermon was delivered by Jesus.We went on to Jacob's well where Jesus witnessed to the Samaritan woman. He toldher that the water He would give would be living water for life everlasting. I had theopportunity to draw water in a bucket from the actual well where Jesus witnessed ofHimself to the Samaritan woman.Then we went into Jerusalem. Our hotel was the International Continental Hotellocated on the Mount of Olives, right next door to the Church of the Ascension whereJesus ascended to go back up into Heaven and gave His great commission to "go into allthe world and preach the Gospel to every creature." There is no way possible for me towrite in this short space of all that happened to our group, my family, and my life whiletouring Jerusalem. On Christmas eve we went out to the shepherd's field in Bethlehem tohave a service, knowing that this is where the angels told the shepherds about the birth ofChrist. On Christmas day, we went into the Garden of the Tomb where Calvary, the Hillof the Skull, Golgotha, is located. I could look up on Calvary and see that this is whereChrist died for your sins and mine. Then we turned from Calvary to go down to thetomb. We could see that the stone was rolled away and the tomb was empty, knowingthat the tomb was empty by evidence of the fact that this Lord, through His Spirit, livesin my heart. We were then seated around the open tomb with Rex Humbard and histouring group to observe the Lord's supper of communion of breaking bread and drinkingof the fruit of the vine. Never would I be able to describe to you what this meant on thisoccasion for me to be in the Land of the Bible.I will be a stronger preacher and more dependent upon the Holy Spirit of God thanever before because of what Jesus did for me and my life and ministry on my trip to theHoly Land.
