Description: This piece of Banded Iron has a nice pattern of stripes and is polished smooth by wind and water. (it does have one small chip, please see pictures for details) It weighs about 7 ounces and measures approximately 3.25 X 2 x 1 inches. Magnets stick to it well. It was found in central Wyoming. Banded Iron is at least 1.8 billion years old and formed of iron, hematite, magnetite with chert, jasper or quartz. It is also known as Seer Stone, Tiger Iron, and Genesis Stone. Banded Iron is thought to have metaphysical properties including opening closed chakras, grounding, channeling energy, repelling negative energy, and healing.
