Description: Method of payment Architect Sir John Vanbrugh & Charcoal Merchant Thomas Britton - 1859 Pages of History -Very Nice Images in 1859 Engravings An Original Historical Print from HistoryOnPaper This is an Engraved Print NOT a Medal This is a interesting set of original 1859 page(s) with engraving rescued from one of the many books published of the History of England. Engravings in these books have exceptional detail, being works of art in their own right. They often depict people or scenes from a different perspective than usually seen in more formal prints. These look great framed as a piece of the past. This page contains a wood engraving of: Thomas Britton (14 January 1644 – 27 September 1714) was an English charcoal merchant best known as a concert promoter. Sir John Vanbrugh was an English architect and dramatist, perhaps best known as the designer of Blenheim Palace and Castle Howard. He wrote two argumentative and outspoken Restoration comedies, The Relapse and The Provoked Wife, which have become enduring stage favorites but originally occasioned much controversy. Prior to this, virtually all prints (and engravings) were produced as illustrations to be included in a manuscript, book, newspaper, or pamphlet. Therefore, a vast majority of original prints have been over the years removed from these original sources. Prints are produced using many different techniques: relief printing (woodcut & wood engraving), intaglio printing (steel & copper plate engraving, drypoint, aquatint, etc), and planographic printing (lithography, serigraphy, inkjet, laser, etc.). While the commercial value of a print depends on such factors as age, rarity, and condition, the real value of a print is its tie to its history and/or its esthetic beauty.
