Description: This here is a high relief bronze plaque, believed to be circa the turn of the 20th Century, it features Theodore Roosevelt and a powerful quote during his presidential speech. It is an incredible piece fashioned in bronze by an artist C (or G) Sander, whose signature is featured just above the words on the plaque, but is very hard to make out clearly. President Roosevelt's signature, which is clearly seen and read, is at the bottom of this honorary plaque under his quote. The heavy bronze has a rich patina that adds character and depth to this amazing piece that has the embossed words of our 26th President's speech: "I wish to preach not the doctrine of the ignoble ease but the doctrine of strenuous life, the life of toil and effort, of labor and strife; to preach that highest form of success that comes, not to the man who desires mere ease and peace, but to him who does not shrink from danger, hardship, or bitter toil, and who, out these, wins the splendid ultimate triumph!" This magnificently powerful plaque is in really good, antique, pre-owned condition. Some normal age/use wear, as well as original found patina. This piece differs from some others, as it was custom mounted to a heavy wooden plaque that accentuates the overall piece. It's connected by 3 screws the welded ports on the plaque, and there is a small loop of copper wire to hang and show off this incredible piece! The type of wood is unknown, but it's heavy and dark. It measures approximately 15" x 9" as the metal portion is 13" by 7 1/4". The overall piece weighs close to 7lbs and could also be propped as the copper loop is close to flat.
