Description: For your consideration is a Seth Thomas Adamantine mantle clock manufacturered in 1900.Adamantine veneer was developed by the Celluloid Manufacturing Company of New York City, and was covered by U.S. Patent number 232,037, dated September 7, 1880. Seth Thomas Clock Company purchased the right to use the Adamantine veneer in 1881. It is a plastic type veneer that can be polished back to its original sheen unlike the painted or stained cases of that era. The case has been cleaned and polished, the movement disassembled and cleaned and bushing added where needed. The clock has been run for 2 weeks and keeps proper time and strikes the hours correctly. The face, hands and pendulum bob are original to the clock and the key is a proper replacement. The movement is the ST hip movement used in hundreds of thousands of Seth Thomas clocks until 1904 and is a durable workhorse movement, functioning as well today as it did 125 years ago when it was placed into service. The clock measures 11" tall by 16" wide by 7" deep. I have restored and sold many dozens of these Seth Thomas Adamantine clocks on eBay and have never had one returned.
