In response to these hostilities, the United States sent resources to the frontier, including the following conflicts:Dakota War of 1862: This brief conflict began on August 17, 1862, when a Dakota hunting party stole eggs from settlers in Acton Township, Minnesota, killing five settlers in the process. The war lasted about six weeks and resulted in hundreds of deaths, many captives, and a significant impact on the Dakota and Native Americans of the state. The war can be seen as an attempt to forcibly remove the Dakota from Minnesota. The war ended in late September 1862, with hundreds of Dakotas taken prisoner and many sent to a reservation in southern Dakota Territory. President Lincoln pardoned all but 38 of the more than 300 who were sentenced to hang. Some Dakotas, including their leader Little Crow, fled to the area around Devils Lake in Dakota Territory.Fort Abercrombie: Located south of FargoFort Dilts: Located near BowmanThe Badlands: Located south of Medora along the Custer Trail" Items are guaranteed to be authentic and in the condition described.
