Description: Antique shaker chair, 19th - early 20 th century, community origin unknown but this is an authentic chair. Woven seat is very old, interior stuffed with newspapers dated 1927, this may have been the original seat ( which dates the chair to 1927) or an old replacement for an earlier original. Solid chair with strong joints and construction. Chair is a very nice clean example with patina, scuffs, blemishes and construction marks as would be expected from a piece this age. Very old varnish or shellac finish, original wood stain. Excellent construction with solid risers and wonderfully made thin bentwood ladder back.
