Description: Here is a beautiful "Vera Cruz" Amethyst(actually from the Piedra Parada area, which is in the mountains a ways away from the actual town of Vera Cruz...)... A recently found pocket did produce a number of remarkable Amethyst crystals, mayny pristine 'floaters", and with superb skeletal crystallization features. This specimen is a great example from that find. It's as if someone threw a handgrenade near the crystal cluster, and as it exploded it froze in mid air. At least that is where my imagination goes when I look at this piece. As usual with Amethyst, how deep the color looks like will vary, depending on how direct in sunlight the piece is held. In this case, the color is in actuality quite dark, a nice medium, but powerful lilac/purple. So I would say that the first photo is actually the most realistic in terms of color saturation. disregard the photos where the piece looks much lighter. "In hand", it does look pretty much like how you will perceive the specimen in real life. no damage on the piece. Again, all the indentations you see on this piece are re-crystallization features/etching and are all crystal faces... Ironically, when local miners found this type of amethyst initially tended to value them lower, as they did not always show the desired perfect terminations. But of course for mineral collectors, this type of Quartz can be much more exciting. From the "New year's day pocket", in 2021. The label states it has an enhydro, or water bubble. That could be, I have not checked it, not because I don't think it could be cool, but because the piece is so awesome in it's own right that I did not even get to exploring that specific feature, and it does not influence how great the piece is...Priced a bit higher, but in accordance to it's relative rare formation and superb esthetics. This specimen is 109 grams, or 3 3/4 oz in weight. The size is 2 inch x 2.5 inch x 0.6 inch.
