Description: The Blurb John Wesley Rattner is a young boy when his father is murdered. Marion Sylder, an outlaw and bootlegger, strangled him to death. By chance, John and Marion will meet. They will not recognise each other; John will not know what this man has done. An experimental debut following in the footsteps of William Faulkner, this is a magnificent conjuring of an American landscape – and a devastating portrayal of innocence lost. The Book This is a RARE 1st Print of the 1st US hardback edition published by Random House in 1965 Near Fine example of this fabled unicorn for many collectors, with some fading to green topstain and ever so slight pushing to tips. In the similar unclipped wrapper by Muriel Nasser, without loss and the price of $4.95 to front flap. Slight fading to spine, with two light bands completely unfaded at top and bottom edge. (most likely due to a previous heavy-duty covering) Small nick to bottom edge, with minor insignificant markings to otherwise crisp and clean wrapper. Slight crack to joint at head of front flap (as usual) We have loads of other fantastic Cormac McCarthy books available, including many signed copies.
