Description: 1940'S Marshall Field Department Store Children's Menu Circus Luncheons Chicago Giraffe My late mother grew up in Iowa, and trips to Chicago were really a big treat. Mom would come up to the "Big City" with her mother, and they would shop for school clothes and maybe a doll or two, and they would have lunch at Marshall Field. It was really a big part of my mother's love for Chicago. Mom was born in 1932, and this menu makes reference to prices being determined by a 1943 metric, so this is probably from 1943 or 1944. The cursive writing in pencil on the cover in my mother's hand seems about right for a 12 year old. Menu is folded in half, as I believe it was designed to be. It is a single, long rectangular page with an adult giraffe and a baby dot-to-dot elephant that Mom has completed in pencil. Measures 7.5 x 5.5 inches folded. Length is 14 inches unfolded. Normal handling wear. Some sun darkening. Light soiling to surface. Slight crease at lower left. (See last photo.) What a fun piece of Chicago history! I will ship as soon as I receive payment.
