Description: "HELLO FOLKS" CHARLIE McCARTHY CASTILLE SOAP - 1930s Bergen-McCarthy, Inc. 1.75" x 4.25" x 1.5" original red, white & blue graphic window display box with inner box insert pieces. 1.5" x 4" x 1" full-figure Charlie McCarthy statuette (egg white soap with faint spot color accents). A great early figural of ventriloquist Edgar Bergen's "wise guy dummy" alter ego. Condition is considered FAIR with miscellaneous surface/stain/edge wear. Minimal small edge tears on box (largest being 3/16") with original cellophane still present (torn 1.5" horizontally in 2 areas). Loose inner cardboard top support has one tab separation at perforation. Misc. edge chipping on soap with one break at neck. This break has been neatly re-glued for display. Soap figure still stands well. Taking into account the fragile nature of soap toys, we consider this a nice displayable example by most standards (see photos). Overall, despite defects, this uncommon item would make a highly graphic CHARLIE McCARTHY figural for the discriminating COMIC CHARACTER enthusiast.
