Description: Original 1/9th plate ambrotype of a young soldier wearing a tinted red battle shirt, and what appears to be a peacock feather stuck in his kepi. His belt buckle is painted gold... looks like it could be a tree design like the buckles of South Carolina.. although the more I look at it, the more it looks like North Carolina's buckle.. but with the gold painting there is obviously not enough detail there to make a positive ID. Comes in a full case with covers are are still attached but just about totally split. Ambrotype is behind original mat and glass and is in overall very god antique condition. Some light solarization and mat abrasions, mostly or all hidden by the mat.. some light surface marks visible under magnification.... but in hand this image is very nice, especially under good lighting.
