Spanish most typically should 💧ONLY BE WATERED 1-2times a week, but this depends on its placement and environment (some areas with dryer conditions may require a misting every 2-3days).The best water 💧to use for Spanish moss is rainwater as its naturally free ofchemicals and closest to the conditions it experiences in the wild. If rainwater isn’t available, then use filtered or dechlorinated tap water (as you should with all your indoor plants)to avoid damaging the plant with chlorine. I personally use pond water for my inside moss and sprits it 1-3 times aweek depending on its appearance and needs. Spanish moss prefers to be moist but not soaking wet, so ensure it driesout before watering sessions. YOU WILL RECEIVE: ONE OVERSTUFFED GALLON BAG of fresh premium Florida Spanish Moss for $9.99.All strands are 12”-36”. We will wrap each strand in its own moist towelette so they can be easily removed from the bag and stay Intact. However, the strands MUST be removed immediately from the package upon receipt as it may mold if left too long without sunlight.Your moss will arrive in a plastic Ziplock bag with damp paper towels to keep each strand moist and separated to prevent damage and easily removed. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO REMOVE THE MOSS FROM THE BAG AND TOWELS AS SOON AS IT ARRIVES!! If the moss is left too long without sunlight this may cause mold. If you do not wish to use them right away, then you should either hang or lay flat in an area of bright indirect sunlight until you are ready for use. You can put the moss directly into a potter with other plants if desired but again, put in an area of your home which receives bright, indirect sunlight. WHAT TO EXPECT UPON ARRIVAL: This is raw natural live Spanish Moss. It is not the same as the treated and clean moss that you see in the craft stores. There may be twigs, leaves or debris entangled in this moss, and maybe even a bug or two. I try to remove as much of this as I can, but it is raw live moss harvested from trees and not sprayed with any chemicals.Some of the moss may appear gray, while the moist parts will still be green in color. If not using upon arrival, please spread it out on a flat surface or hang it in a bright, indirect sunlit room and mist the plants with water to revive them after being boxed during shipping. Some parts of the plants may turn black or yellow. These parts are dead. We will not ship strands withany dead parts, but this could occur during the shipping process. Simply snip off the dead parts to restore them back to a healthy condition and mist with water, if dry. PLEASE NOTE (2ND REMINDER): If the moss remains in an unopened box it will mold!! You MUST remove the plants from the package ASAP.If your moss arrives in a poor condition, please let us know within 24 hours. The coloring of your moss will range from a light green to a silver/grey depending on the moisture remaining in the package. If light green or silver, the moss is still very moist and does not need any water. If the color has changed to a darker grey, you may need to mist it with just a little bit of water. 💧Please note that upon watering dry moss, it may show a light white color on the leaves- this is not mold. When its dry its natural color appears silvery gray. When watered, it absorbs the water and takes on a greenish huge, making it almost seem white due to the contract between itsdry & wet appearance; essentially, it’s just reflecting the light differently when saturated with water.DID YOU KNOW???Spanish-moss (Tillandsiausneoides)Spanish-moss, also called Florida moss, long moss, or graybeard, is not a true moss. It is an epiphytic plant, which grows on another plant, but does not rely on the host plant for nutrients; epiphytes make their own food. They are sometimes referred to as air plants because most have aerial roots; however, Spanish-moss does not have any roots. It uses its long, thin, scaly stems to wrap around the host tree and hang down from the branches. The leaves are covered with cup-like, permeable scales that 'catch' moisture and nutrients from the air and from pockets on the surface of the host. This water-trapping ability allows Spanish-moss to withstand long dry periods. In extreme dry spells, the plant becomes dormant until moisture returns. The plants have very tiny seeds that are dispersed by wind and birds. Birds may also carry off small fragments that easily reproduce new plants.
